The explanations for programs used to be simply a picture with a small paragraph of text below. I wanted to make this more visually exciting,
but was limited by the platform we were using. To solve this problem,
I designed small blocks of information with photo collages that could be used in place of an image. To the left is the before and below are the ones I created to replace these program explanations.
I also began changing the name of the email to grab more audience attention, which then led to the additional research presented below.
Overall, I don't think I was as effective as I would've liked until I started my research and looked into understanding the audience more. This is something I wish I would've done closer to the beginning of my internship, but hope to leave the information I collected in a way that can continue to make a difference for those to follow me.

NEWSLETTER RESEARCH
Every week we send out a newsletter to a list of subscribers, through a service called MailChimp, that explains a few of our programs that students can get involved in. I noticed that most of the newsletters were being opened by less than 35% of the contacts we had saved. I wanted to know why so I did some research analyzing who we had as contacts and what they might be looking for in a subscription newsletter as to give them the best information. Here is my report:
